Isaiah 40:31

But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.

Today’s scripture says when we trust in God, we find “new strength,” a strength we haven’t experienced before. Why do you think trusting God gives us strength?

When we trust God and give all our cares to Him, He gives us a freedom through the truth in His Word, like we’re soaring on eagle’s wings. Trusting Him so completely lessens our burdens and frees us from the cares of this world. It changes how we feel physically, emotionally and spiritually. When we trust God, we’re more ready for life’s adventures!

Have you ever been on an exciting hike or trip and felt that you could keep going forever? I believe God wants us to have that same feeling every day as we trust Him and walk with Him every day.

Reread today’s scripture and rewrite it in your own words:

How do we trust in the Lord? Proverbs 3:5–8 says that to trust in God, we should lean on God’s wisdom and not our own, seek His will in everything we do, respect what He says and turn away from evil. If we can do these things, verse 8 says that we’ll gain strength all the way to our bones. That’s a deep strength that can get us through anything life throws at us.

I Are you ready to soar like an eagle or run with a spiritual strength that won’t run out? It’s freely available; simply trust in God to receive His strength that never fails. And if trust is difficult for you, then take this promise from Isaiah 41:10 and pray it to God: “I won’t be afraid, for God is with me. I won’t be discouraged, for He is my God. He will strengthen me and help me. He will hold me up with His victorious right hand.”

Dormant |
Romans 14:8

If we live, it’s to honor the Lord. And if we die, it’s to honor the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.

Look outside. Do the trees look dead or alive around your house? What about any fields you can see? Are there any flowers blooming? Describe the scene out your window:

In most areas across the United States, this is the season where plants, trees, grass and flowers are dormant. They take a break from producing during a cold, windy and possibly snowy time of year.

Today’s scripture talks about everyday life. If we say we are followers of Jesus, then we should live to honor Him every day in all we do. And even in death, God is in control; we will always belong to Him no matter where our bodies are.

Why is it so hard to represent God in our lives sometimes?

It’s easy to feel spiritually dormant or dead. What are three things we can do to liven up our spiritual lives?

Challenge: During this dormant time of year, an action we can take to brighten our mood is to serve someone else who is in need. It’s also a way to honor the Lord with our lives. Ask God who He would have you serve today, this week or this month, and then journal your experience below.
